The peña is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

The peña may change this statement from time to time by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes. This policy is effective from June 1st 2009.

What we collect

We may collect the following information:

  • name
  • contact information including email address and postal address
  • demographic information such as postcode, preferences and interests
  • other information as volunteered by you the user in your member's profile

What we do with the information we gather

We require this information to help us provide you with a better level of service, and in particular for the following reasons:

  • Internal record keeping, for example managing the peña membership list
  • To contact you by email or mail regarding peña announcements or activities (see below)
  • We may use your information to broaden the coverage of the peña website and newsletter according to your interests

Your email address is used for the following:

  • To verify your identity during registration.
  • To notify you when your registration is complete.
  • To occasionally send you important information about the peña or its activities.

Your postal address is used for the following:

  • To send you your peña membership pack upon completion of your registration
  • To send you written notice of certain peña activities, for example an invitation to an AGM
Other information you choose to include in your profile, such as telephone number or instant messaging IDs, is at your own discretion and will not be used by Peña Flamenca El Indalo.

NOTE: Your contact details are not visibile on your profile, so this information is never available to other members of the peña. Other members may contact you by email, but they do so by filling out an online form. They do not have acesss to your email address.

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

How we use cookies

Our website is build using a number of components, primarily Joomla!, Community Builder and Kunena. Joomla! is the core content management system, Community Builder is a Joomla! extension that supports the online community aspect of the website, including the management of user profiles, and Kunena is a Joomla! extension that provides our online discussion forum. Each of these components uses cookies to provide a better browsing experience. Blocking cookies my limit the browsing experience for some or all of these components.

We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This helps us analyse data about webpage traffic and improve our website in order to tailor it to customer needs. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system.

Overall, cookies help us provide you with a better website, by enabling us to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us.

Controlling your personal information

As already detailed, your contact details are required by the peña to allow us to send you electronic and written notices from time to time.

All other information maintained about is at your own discression, and may be modified or removed by you at any time by logging in and editing your profile information. This information will be maintained for as long as you are a member of the peña. If at some point you choose not to renew your membership, your account will be deactivated and your personal information will be removed from our systems.

We will not sell, lease, distribute or reveal your personal information to any third parties unless, required by law to do so.

You may request details of personal information which we hold about you under the Data Protection Acts 1988 & 2003. A small fee may be payable. If you would like a copy of the information held on you please write to the following address.
